The Blarney Stone

The Blarney stone is part of Blarney Castle, just north of Cork Ireland. It is a block of bluestone that was set into the castle walls when it was built in 1446. The stone is said to be magical but it's origin in shrouded in mystery. No one knows for sure where it came from. It is said that if you kiss the stone, you will be blessed with the gift of gab. You have to actually sit down with your back to the stone, then lean backwards, while holding onto iron bars. There is an attendant that holds onto you so you don't fall to your death. I don't know about you but...I wouldn't want to kiss something that has been kissed thousands of times before and probably never been wiped off. YUG!

  1. I'm with you on this one, but, still, it does seem like a fun tradition.
